Thank You!

Hello all,
Thank you to everyone who came along to the PTA quiz, a fab night was had, and the bar was indeed drunk dry! We’ll update you soon with the money that was raised for the school. Thank you to everyone who helped out to make this a successful event, we look forward to seeing you all again for the next PTA event!

Quiz Night!

Why not come along and test your general knowledge, whilst raising money for Greenfield Primary School with our PTA quiz on Saturday 5th Feb? Starting at 7.30pm, this one is for the grown ups only. The quiz will be at the Satellite Club on Wellington Road, max 6 people per team and it’s £10 a ticket – which includes a pie supper (meat & veggie option). All the details are shown in the poster below. Tickets can either be bought from eventbrite here, or at the main entrance from 24th Jan on wards via a card reader. (at last!) Due to the current situation, mask wearing will be mandatory if you are not eating or drinking. Thank you. 🙂

Updated Festive Plans

After discussing with the school and seeking some guidance from Oldham Council about hosting an event (since it would be on their school premises), the Greenfield PTA decided against hosting a large scale Christmas Fair or equivalent this term.

There was enough uncertainty to make the planning more difficult and this was only compounded by the news from the UK government earlier this week. Therefore, we will instead be doing a couple of Christmas themed events (The Great Greenfield Naughty Elf Hunt and a Christmas Challenge for the children) which can be done within the family unit and avoids the need for mass social gatherings. There are also a couple of surprises for the children in the next couple of weeks, but we won’t see anything further about that on here, and that is for the children to find out shortly. We hope everyone enjoys the events and surprises and thanks for your continued support!

The Greenfield PTA

Thank You!

A very big thank you to the generous donation of £500 towards PTA funds from MacNaught Digital Ltd, who are based at the Tanner Business Centre here in Greenfield.

On behalf of everyone at the PTA, we thank you very much, and we will add it to the pot, to benefit all the children here at Greenfield Primary School!

PTA annual AGM

Hello to all!

Our next PTA meeting will at long last be held in person, hopefully no more zoom meetings! We will meet in the King Bill on 4th October at 8pm, and this will also serve as our annual AGM.

As usual everyone is welcome, that includes all new parents, come along and join us if you have a spare hour. 🙂

Welcome Letter

Hello to all Parents and Children!

Chair: TBC; Treasurer: Ali Irving; Secretary: Jenny Gretton/Jo Davies

A warm welcome to all of the new parents whose children have started this September, and welcome back to parents who were here last year. The Greenfield PTA is a group of parents with children in all school year groups who assist with organising fund-raising events and projects to raise money for the school to use when they want to provide extras or treats for the children.

Things we have funded recently include:

  • Pantomime coaches for the Christmas panto at the Oldham Coliseum
  • Books for the new school library and technical equipment
  • Visits from external organisations to provide on-site fun events such as Maypole
    dancing and Circus Skill Training
  • Trim Trail play equipment for the new school playground
Fundraising events we have organised include:
  • Activity stalls for children at the recent Brass Band Fair on Greenfield Park (this alone
made over £950 and so a great start to the school year)
  • Virtual Chocolate bingo night
  • Christmas Cards created by the children
  • Christmas and Easter hunts around the village to be done within the family
  • Spooky themed day as it was not possible to host the ‘Spooky Disco’ last year
  • Christmas Film and activity day

In the past couple of years, we have raised well over £15,000 which is being used by the school for a trim trail to be installed in the playground. This should begin to be installed in the first few weeks of the Autumn term.

We welcome everyone and all ideas for fundraising. You don’t have to commit to our monthly meetings, and any help is appreciated. For example, help on a stall, donate to a raffle, come along to our events with your families, all help, however small, is welcome and appreciated.

If you want to be involved in any capacity, please get in touch to say hello (our email is pips4greenfield@gmail.com) or in person during drop-off or pick-up. The PTA is ever-changing as children leave and join the school, so we are always ready for new volunteers and new ideas.

Next meeting: this will be our AGM which is a formal title for a normal meeting but a legal obligation because we are a registered charity. We will update our blog for details on how to join very shortly, all are welcome!

PTA Fundraising Update

As a quick follow on to the last update, the stalls which the PTA had at the Brass Band event at the Greenfield cricket club on Sunday, made an astonishing £950!! This is an amazing start to the school year fund-raising efforts and so thank you very much for your support.

With the news which was sent out by Mr. Wood this week about the delivery of the Trim Trail equipment on 15th September, this is the very real evidence of your contributions to the fund-raising and what a difference this can make. We hope we can continue to support the school with more special treats for the children or perhaps even further playground equipment later in the year if we are able to continue to raise the kind of funds we have been doing in the last few years.

The first PTA meeting of the year will take place on Monday 4th October and it will be held at the King William pub in Greenfield. The exact time will be sent nearer the time. Please feel free to come along or if you would like to get in touch beforehand and not sure who we are, you can ask one of the teachers (or another parent) to point you in the direction of James Smith, Ali Irving, Jenny Gretton or Liz Mooney.
Thanks!
